GNU International Fonts Ver.1.1 for Slackware Here's a big batch of international fonts to use with the MULE version of XEmacs. These fonts have been converted to the .pcf.gz format that is preferred by XFree86. Here's how to install them: 1. Untar the package you want to install. As an example, we will use European.tar.gz: tar xzvf European.tar.gz cd European 2. Next, copy the fonts into your /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc directory: cp *.pcf.gz /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc 3. Append the fonts.alias information to the existing fonts.alias in /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc. (skip this step if the fonts archive didn't contain a fonts.alias file -- not all of them do) cat fonts.alias >> /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc/fonts.alias 4. Run mkfontdir in the directory you installed the fonts in: cd /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc mkfontdir . That's it! The fonts should now be ready to use by X. Have fun! :) -- Patrick J.
